Documentation of the Post production process:

Front cover Progression:

Tools Used: Horizontal text box and font downloaded

The font chosen is a Love story, applied by downloading to font book. Masthead across the top of the page- draws attention to the reader. Added a text box across the page, selecting my chosen font with the horizontal text box.

Tools used: Gradient tool, to create a gradient fill. Rectangle tool filled with red with a yellow text box.

Background colour- Represents the acoustic genre, due to the colour scheme based on a rustic guitar. However, I was researching other acoustic magazines and decided to choose a gradient. During this part of the process, through intensive research, I choose to use a blue gradient as it doesn't clash with other colours. During experimentation, this colour scheme does not look appealing, clashing with the tagline.

Tools used: gradient tool to create a gradient fill. With a linear style

The change of background is due to my colour scheme and suiting to my target audience. The blue does not clash with any colours compared to the brown background. In addition, it is bright and eye-catching and it features a gender-neutral colour.

Tools Used: gradient tool, rectangle tool with the text box

Changed the gradient colour scheme to a blue. In addition, the main primary colours are white black and dark blue. Changing the title to white. The plain, bold font portrays the magazine to be simple and sophisticated. The addition of the rectangle tool makes the tag line stand out underneath the title.

tools used: gradient tool, text box, rectangle toolbox filled in black, ellipse tool with blue fill

The ellipse tool makes the discount stand out, the added taglines have the colour scheme with dark blue, black and white. They all compliment well especially with the rectangle tool with the text box.

Tools used: the magnetic lasso tool, magic wand tool, eyedropper tool and quick selection tool

Sized images via the command T button. The saturation is lowered to reduce the redness on models face, clearing skin.

Tools Used: effects stoke tool, magic eraser tool, rectangle text box, magic wand tool

The stroke effect makes the taglines stand out and compliments the focus point on the front page. In addition, the magic eraser tool perfected the image.

Tools Used: eyedropper tool, ellipse tool, text box, magnetic lasso

The eyedropper tool was used to change the background colour. This is due to my colour scheme changing and suiting my primary target audience. The ellipse tool with the pink fill makes it stand out.  I changed the colour of the background by selecting image, adjustments then change the hue/saturation

Tools used: magnetic lasso, stroke text box, ellipse, added screenshot moved with the move tool, saturation, rectangle tool

The stroke tool is used throughout the front page, the top 10 and 20 matches the colour of the other tag line using the eyedropper tool to match the colour. The magnetic tool cropped parts of the old background with a layer mask and link helping to cut unwanted parts out with the magic eraser tool. Also, the black rectangle box makes the features within the magazine stand out.

Double page spread progression:

Tools used: gradient tool with purple gradient fill- linear style

Background chosen due to my primary target audience. The gradient fill at a 90 degrees angle makes the double page stand out and will allow many colours for the text boxes.

Tools used: gradient overlay, a text box with downloaded font

The colour overlay and the gradient overlay is perfect due to the purple part being behind the text box for my main title using my downloaded font from dafont.com

Tools Used: Text box, columns, grid tool, ellipse tool with gradient fill and screenshot

All the rectangle text box shapes have been inserted into columns. This makes the pull quote stand out. The ellipse tool has the unique usp in it, proving its importance. The grid tool helped me get all the alignment correct and equal.

Tools used: magnetic lasso tool, move tool, quick selection tool, magic wand/eraser and new layer mask

I zoomed in and out using the command and + or - this made sure my magnetic lasso points were accurate around the model. Once completed selected the image to cut and copied onto my double page spread

Tools used: Anchor point tool, columns, delete anchor point

All the anchor points were put around the guitar which compliments the overall theme of my magazine. Highlighting the acoustic genre and makes the text stand out more.

Tools used: Layer mask, background with the move tool, anchor point, text box, stroke, custom shape tool

The image was copied on top of background found online. The purple scheme compliments the main image. Screenshots for the social media section makes that part stand out rather than using an ellipse tool.

Target Audience review:

Overall, I believe that my music magazine meets the requirements of the brief and my target Audience.

Unplugged primary target audience is 16-20. My colour scheme was chosen based on the needs of my target audience. Due to the fact of certain features like the artist and social grades( c and d).  Shown in the image below.

One key strength of Unplugged is the colour scheme. The light pink compliments the blue background. Using these gender neutral colours enabled Unplugged to match the needs of the primary and secondary target audience. From the client feedback on my initial powerpoint having the secondary target audience widen the audience.

The stroke effect meets the requirements of the young target audience. Moreover, this effects makes the Taglines stand out throughout the front page cover.

Another strength is the chosen artist, my target audience can relate to increasing the suitability of my music magazine. This is due to Megan aged 23- her opinions and style may influence our readers as my secondary target audience is her age. The choice of using a female increase the relatability of my magazine to my primary target audience.

Lastly, the language used throughout my double page spread considers the age of my primary and secondary target audiences. This motivational quote can inspire young readers, and the youthful language and questions in the interview relate to Megan's humble upbringing. This once again increases the relatability of Unplugged as many can relate to Megan's story and she can be a role model.

One weakness of my magazine, Is the focal point is slightly in front of my main title. As the magazine is not established yet it's hard to read the title. However, this could be improved by slightly moving the image down so the title is viewable.

Another weakness from the magazine is there is more focus in meeting the needs of my primary target audience. The double page spread has purple as its main colour scheme, this could not attract to the secondary target audience. However, the language used suits the NRS social grades of the secondary target audience.  Lastly, due to the colours used it makes the magazine target a very specific target audience which could decrease the overall amount of readers. Pink is extremely dominant however this does match what the primary target audience wants.

There are some minor improvements to be made in order to suit my primary and secondary target audience.

Firstly, the double page spread cover background doesn't blend in with the rest of the page. To increase the relatability of the magazine, I could add a more gender neutral colour like turquoise. A wider audience would then be more attracted to read the interview. Moreover, another slight improvement is changing the text of the interview with a bolder and brighter colour. Using black suggests simplicity and boring.  Lastly, the Pull quote does not stand out. I could use an ellipse tool to make this stand out to my primary and secondary target audience. This is key as this quote is meant to inspire the younger ages within the target audience due to the story of the humble artist. A bubble underneath could make the magazine more youthful than dull due to a simple colour scheme.
